The first round began with a resume dive and moved directly into technical questions. The interviewer focused on one of my projects and pushed on the details instead of accepting the high-level story. I felt they wanted clarity on my decisions and implementation choices, and much of the discussion rested on solid C++ fundamentals.
After that, the process shifted to a coding assessment after the earlier discussion had already set up the concepts. I received a LeetCode medium problem that required me to use ideas we had discussed during the interview. The pressure was real: the challenge was not only knowing the topic, but mapping it quickly while the clock was running.
I was not offered the role. Compared with the most intense interview grills, the experience still felt fairly straightforward. There were a few quick math questions along the way, and the hardest part was the pressure of moving into the medium coding problem, not any single obscure topic.
