After I applied, the process moved almost immediately into an automated, AI-assisted coding challenge. It happened so fast that I felt nobody had reviewed my background first. There was no initial call. Instead, I received the challenge and had to record my screen and camera while working.
The assessment lasted 90 minutes and used a company-provided codebase. I was told I could use AI tools, but I still had little sense of what good work looked like beyond completing the required fixes. I also did not know whether anyone would review the recording or how it would be judged. The repository was unfamiliar, and 90 minutes did not feel like enough time to complete several tasks carefully, especially LLM-style refactoring tasks where I needed to verify changes rather than merely generate code.
I did not receive an offer. The lack of human contact, strict proctoring, and tight timing left me with a sour feeling. The technical challenge was one part of it, but the overall flow made it hard to trust the process.
