After a recruiter contacted me, I had an early screen to confirm my background, availability, and interest in the role. The discussion was practical: why I wanted the role, my sales experience, and how my goals matched the business. I kept it conversational and used real examples rather than trying to sound overly polished.
A little later, I met with managers, usually in one main in-person conversation with sales leadership. The questions were behavioral and scenario-based. I used the STAR format when it came up, and we discussed customers, working under pressure, meeting sales expectations, role standards and policies, and how I would communicate my plan.
The process was generally smooth, either a quick phone screen plus one or two manager conversations, or a get-to-know-you meeting followed by a sales-focused step. I usually felt comfortable and confident. Even when a role was not a perfect fit for me, the interview itself was still professional and clear. Some of these journeys ended without an offer, while in one I was hired from the first interview. What I remember most is the focus on straightforward sales experience and explaining scenarios without getting flustered.
