After that, I discussed the project with an interviewer. The conversation was strongly focused on machine learning, and we went through my Hangman solution and specific ways to improve it. The questions felt less like generic interview conversation and more like an examination of my modeling choices, including references to deeper learning and reinforcement-style approaches.
The process felt fairly aligned with the work. Hangman was the centerpiece, and the conversation built on it by discussing ML techniques. I didn't receive an offer from that experience, but the direction of the questions still felt coherent rather than random.
