University College London Research Analyst interview: research presentation panel

This interview felt heavier than the others because it added a short presentation to a formal panel. Before the main discussion, I prepared and gave a 5 to 10 minute talk on my previous research, then proposed a protocol or approach for a technique used in the lab. The panel moved straight from that presentation into probing questions.

Each panel member asked background and competency questions, usually with a couple of follow-ups about whether my experience fit the work. I kept having to connect my prior work to the particular field or technique rather than talk broadly about research.

I was nervous, but the questions were tied to the role's core tasks. It felt difficult because the presentation had to hold together and the follow-ups came quickly, even though I left feeling I had shown what I could do.

Location: United Kingdom. Overall feedback: neutral. Offer status: no offer.
