Brex Interview Questions
System design is the largest slice of Brex's 7 questions, and all of it is money movement: a peer-to-peer transfer system where the interviewer pushes on idempotency, double-spend and what happens when one leg of the transfer fails, and a service that computes reward points from a stream of transactions and has to stay correct when a transaction is refunded later or a batch gets replayed. The coding side stays in the same territory, with an exercise on applying discounts to card purchases where the order the rules fire in changes the total, and one of the seven opens in a console you can execute in. Then the loop widens out. One round hands you broken code and asks you to fix it and explain why the fix holds. One asks you to build a colour multi-select dropdown in React, keyboard handling included, which is unusual on a page otherwise labelled Software Engineer. One is straight behavioural. Six of the seven were technical screens rather than onsite, five sit at medium against one hard and one easy, five have a solution written out, and nothing is paywalled.
