I started with an interview that felt straightforward and respectful, and the recruiter seemed involved and supportive. Then I moved into a technical coding interview where the interviewer repeatedly required me to talk while coding. I found that counterproductive. The constant interruptions made it easy to lose focus and added anxiety to an already stressful live coding environment.
I was trying to work through the requirements, but the back-and-forth kept throwing me off. The interviewer did interrupt to help, yet it ended up hindering me more than supporting me. I didn’t implement every requirement because the pressure and being observed were too much.
I also felt they didn’t account for how difficult live coding can be for introverted people who don’t think out loud at the same pace. I wasn’t offered the role, and I left feeling that I’d been judged through a format that didn’t fit how I perform under stress.
