I started the day with an online video overview that lasted about forty-five minutes. It covered what Epic does and the software it provides. After that, I moved into one-on-one conversations with engineers. One was a lighter discussion where I could ask questions and hear about their experiences.
The next engineer conversation was more technical and felt like a system design prompt that kept building on itself. In my session, it became a design for a new database with realistic patient data while still dealing with the old database. The question kept changing as the discussion continued. Later, I paired with another engineer for a LeetCode-style programming exercise and got a medium problem involving backtracking.
The day ended with a shorter recruiter and HR conversation. What surprised me was how the onsite moved back and forth between mentorship-style discussions and deeper technical evaluation. I didn't get an offer, but I left feeling that the process was structured and fairly transparent about the technical bar.
