Rocket Lab Software Engineer interview: technical rounds, presentation and an onsite tour

The process lasted a little over a month. After a recruiter call, I waited a week or two for a virtual hiring-manager interview, then had a technical interview with an engineer on the team. Those conversations followed a similar pattern: my resume, how I'd handled previous work and engineering fundamentals such as debugging and problem solving.

The later stages were more demanding. I needed to demonstrate depth beyond a broad introduction. There was also a presentation component in the interview flow. The detailed questions seemed aimed at how I'd handle day-to-day software engineering problems, as well as what I'd already done. They felt more rigorous than the early discussions.

The final phase was an onsite interview with a tour. I felt I'd shown my understanding of the fundamentals clearly, but I didn't receive an offer. What surprised me was the delay after I'd submitted everything. The intermediate steps had moved fairly quickly, yet the process slowed down at the end.

Location: Littleton, CO. Overall feedback: neutral. Offer status: no offer.
