The later stage became the most memorable part of my process, and not in a good way. After the earlier rounds, I was brought into an Amazon-style bar raiser interview. The tone felt scripted and as if the decision had already been made.
The interviewer began by asking me to walk through a specific period from my resume. They mostly stayed quiet and gave very little feedback while I spoke. There weren't many follow-up scenarios or situation-based questions, and the communication felt thin. I felt as though I was being evaluated against a checklist instead of having a real discussion.
I also felt like I was being used for training. I spent a full day in an office-based bar raiser format with a trainee present, even though the circumstances made me question whether it would lead to a meaningful decision. I had to travel from another city, and later events made it seem as though the process was already out of sync with changes in hiring.
I didn't get an offer. I left with a strongly negative impression of the bar raiser stage because it felt mechanical, high-pressure, and lacking the clarity that would have made the process feel fair.
