My first step was a cognitive and personality-style evaluation. After that, I quickly reached rounds that felt more like assessments than engineering interviews. One memorable part was a room-based exercise that had nothing to do with building software. It was meant to see how I performed under pressure during an activity unrelated to day-to-day development.
The process also included a one-way video interview. I recorded behavioral answers after a short thinking period and had a short window to speak. I found the AI-style format awkward because there was no interaction. I was simply responding on the clock.
Later, I did technical work that included a take-home component difficult enough to stand out. I put time into it, and even though the problem felt manageable, I was still uncertain about what would happen afterward. Once I finished the take-home, I didn't receive meaningful follow-up communication.
I didn't receive an offer. What stayed with me was how many steps weren't directly connected to the skills I would use in the role, along with the lack of closure afterward.
Location: New York, NY. Overall feedback: Negative. Offer status: No offer.
