The call began simply enough, but it quickly became a frustrating mismatch. The questions went beyond a general introduction. I was asked what I knew about Starship, then the conversation moved into technical fundamentals.
What bothered me was how my technical background seemed to be treated as irrelevant. The role description and my coursework were in electrical engineering, yet the technical questions leaned heavily on mechanical-engineering fundamentals. The interviewer also struck me as negative and dismissive about my experience. They played down my projects and even challenged why my work should count for anything.
The discussion became oddly fixed on my SAT history. The interviewer kept saying it was impossible that I had not taken it, even though it had not been required for my admission. I left feeling the process was unprofessional and disorganized, and that it did not line up with the job I had applied for. I did not receive an offer. The negative tone made me more discouraged than challenged.
