Walmart de México y Centroamérica Software Engineer interview: conversational live coding

Walmart de México y Centroamérica·Software Engineer·Reported Jul 2026

I started with a recruiter screen and then, about a week later, had a structured, recruiter-friendly technical interview. The technical session was divided into a few rounds, and each interviewer explained the plan upfront. I completed LeetCode-style coding and also talked through my background, resume, and the tech stack I had used in past work. Kafka and Kubernetes came up naturally while we discussed those systems.

The tone stood out. The interviewer was clear and easy to follow, and the live problem solving felt more conversational than adversarial. I needed to explain my thinking while writing code, and each round stayed focused instead of wandering into broad tangents.

By the end, I felt I had shown both problem-solving ability and relevant engineering experience, even though I did not get an offer. The bar felt reasonable and the process well organized, but it was not a match for the final decision.

Location: Sunnyvale, CA. Overall feedback: positive. Offer status: no offer.
