Amazon Advertising Software Engineer Interview Experience: four technical interviews with adaptive follow-ups

The process was organized, and recruiting communicated clearly throughout. Scheduling went smoothly apart from one interview I had to reschedule because of an interviewer emergency. The final set consisted of four technical interviews covering data structures and algorithms, object-oriented design, system design, and behavioral questions based on Amazon's Leadership Principles. The interviewers w…

Amazon Advertising Software Engineer Interview Experience: an intern assessment and teamwork questions

The process began with an online assessment combining coding and aptitude questions. After passing it, I was invited to one or two technical interviews on data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and general problem-solving. The final round included behavioral questions about communication, teamwork, and fit for a software development engineer intern role. It felt as though they…

Amazon Advertising Software Engineer Interview Experience: an online coding interview after a hackathon

An Amazon Hackathon led to an online interview. The interviewer was friendly and approachable, and we began with a basic introduction. The coding felt medium in difficulty and followed the format I'd expected when moving from a hackathon to an interview. I didn't get an offer, but the process was straightforward and the tone stayed positive. I'd call the overall difficulty average. Feeling comfor…

Amazon Advertising Software Engineer interview experience: written problem-solving stage

The first test was assignment-like and covered a broad mix: Java depth questions, React, SQL, and some DevOps. After my first round, there was also a paper-based written problem-solving step. I was rejected at that written stage. I had traveled a long way for the interview and did not feel ready enough after dealing with the timing and logistics. With more than 40 hours spent traveling, I was not…

Amazon Advertising Software Engineer interview experience: coding and leadership principles

I began with an online assessment that had one data-structure coding question and an AI coding question. Then came four interviews. Two combined data-structure coding with leadership-principles discussion, another paired low-level design with leadership principles, and the bar-raiser-style round was leadership principles only. Leadership themes came up even in rounds that otherwise felt technical…

Amazon Advertising Software Engineer interview: video-supported online test

I started with recruiter outreach and an initial online step. The assessment used video support and examples of the reasoning and approach they wanted, so it felt less about memorization than about how I structured my thinking. After I cleared it, I had short, focused technical interviews before the final round was scheduled. Later conversations explicitly covered networking, troubleshooting, aut…

Amazon Advertising Software Engineer Interview Experience: four demanding loop rounds

The process started with an online assessment and moved into four rounds: coding, deeper technical design, Leadership Principles, and another design round. The coding interview had two DSA problems, one medium and one hard. I had to solve them optimally, explain my approach, cover time and space complexity, edge cases, optimizations, alternatives, and trade offs. The design work covered an Amazon…

What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
