Phone Screen, Four Onsite Rounds, and a Founder Who Muted Himself

Their HR seems to be outsourced to some third party — they were actually pretty enthusiastic though. Phone screen: coding. Onsite: four rounds. Round 1 was practical coding, I don't even remember what exactly it was anymore. They allowed using AI for code gen. Round 2 was also practical coding, the problem was pretty long and I don't remember the details either. All I remember is that you had to…

Final Round Focused Entirely on My Solo Full-Stack Project

Hey, sharing my interview experience from Bloomberg's final round today. We did about 2 minutes of small talk to open, then the HM went straight in: "I'm particularly interested in this full stack project you did for a real client. Let's focus mostly on that, I'd like to understand how you work." As soon as I heard that I knew this round wasn't about how strong my technical skills were, it was ab…

Three Back-to-Back Rounds, Offer a Month Later

Timeline 10/13: HackerRank OA — one LeetCode problem, one data-processing problem 11/03: 3 rounds, back-to-back interviews 12/03: Offer Background: Statistics PhD, resume was 80% large-language-model-related research, no conference publications at the time of interviewing (a few projects were finished and being submitted), no industry experience. Round 1: the interviewer gave me 30 min of behavio…

A Brutal OA With Robot-Building and Factory Games

First-time poster here. After I got the OA, I asked the career center for an extension but didn't get one, so I ended up squeezing it into one evening of Thanksgiving break, a week before finals deadlines. After I finished I felt like my English was terrible and my IQ had dropped :((( It seriously wrecked my mood for the rest of finals prep. 25 minutes building a robot car. There were two rounds…

Four-Part Onsite With a Code Review and Whiteboard System Design

The Mouse House onsite! They've started doing in-person onsites now, so the last two interviews were at the Seattle office. I was interviewing for Lead Software Engineer (Frontend). The second round had four parts total. The first part was a half-hour chat with a Senior TPM, mainly to get a sense of your working style and see your collaboration style. The second part was a code review with a Prin…

Rejected Everywhere Else Before Landing an All-Strong-Hire DSR Offer

I've read some experience posts on the forum before, and this is my way of giving back — my first post, sharing some of my own experience here. Some background first: I'm at a big company, I've been coasting for several years, and I felt like I was wasting away, so I planned to switch jobs earlier this year. It didn't go well though — I got rejected at the hiring manager round, then coding/SQL ro…

A Four-Part OA With Two In-Platform Games

Roblox's DS summer intern OA has 4 parts: the first two parts are both playing games on Roblox's own platform, the third part is basically behavioral multiple choice, and the fourth part is coding. Part 1: a build-a-car game, 25 minutes total; 2 sections, 13 minutes each, and each section has two different terrains. You need to install different parts on a car to get through both terrains, and th…

Pair Programming, Then a Rough Onsite Day

There aren't many full write-ups here that make it all the way to the onsite round, so I wanted to contribute one. Overall timeline: Day 1: HR reached out to schedule the interview — sent a link to book a time for a "life story" chat, and along with it an IQ test and a personality test to complete before the chat. Day 4: Life story interview. The key points are already covered in other posts — th…

A Four-Level Frontend OA Building a Blog App

A couple of days after the referral I got an AI HR call — 15 minutes answering some behavioral questions — and then I received two separate OA links. OA1 was a 15-minute, 50-question IQ-style test plus a company culture questionnaire. I didn't do that well on it — I only got through 45 of the 50 questions, and I'd estimate my accuracy was somewhere around 35-40%. OA2 was a frontend CodeSignal OA:…

Three Rounds of Online Assessments

The first round OA was 30 minutes with 18 probability questions. The time wasn't tight — most of them were easy-to-medium difficulty questions from the green book, or similar ones. I still remember the last question: from the 30 numbers 1 to 30, you draw three numbers without replacement — what's the probability that the three numbers form an arithmetic sequence? I think I'd seen a similar questi…

Spotify-Style SQL Recommendation Question, Case Study Rushed in 10 Minutes

This was the first technical phone screen of this job-hopping season for me. It was with an AI video creation company based in New York — funny enough, it has the same name as a legendary NYC clubbing spot lol. I definitely hadn't grinded enough problems, because all they asked was a SQL question and I was scratching my head the whole time writing it. I'm sure I bombed it — I could feel the inter…

A Marathon of 17 Probability OA Questions

Pick a random integer from 1 to 10,000. What's the probability that every digit of that number is different? Roll a die until you roll something greater than 4. What's the expected value of the sum of all the rolls? Draw 3 cards from a standard 52-card deck. What's the expected value of the product of the three numbers (J = 11, Q = 12, K = 13)? Toss 100 coins. Pair up an H with a T and remove tha…

Timeline: Oct 14: HR reached out Oct 24: OA + Tech Screening Nov 2: Two Team Match interviews Nov 10: Moved into the hiring process Nov 26: Offer The OA was basically the same questions people have already shared here, randomly pulled from the question bank — nothing harder than a Hard. Bombed the Live Bug-Free Hotel Split-Stay Problem

The interviewer got on the call and, without saying a word, immediately dropped a problem on me. I think I'd seen fragments of this one on the forum before — the hotel split stay problem. But I'd only ever seen little snippets of the description and didn't remember the actual problem in much detail, so I basically treated it as a brand new question. The gist of the problem: it's about booking roo…

A Behavioral Screen on Team Leadership, Answered via Scrum

Was it last month or the month before? The interviewer was young. The main questions were: Talk about one of your projects Some hypothetical questions around team playing and leadership — for example, if you were the team lead, how would you handle someone on the team blowing past a deadline, or how would you assign roles when the team runs into a new problem that nobody on the team is familiar w…

What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Share your own

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
