eBay Interview Questions
41 questions reported from eBay interviews, 23 of them from Software Engineer loops, with a couple of Product Manager and Data Analyst reports at the edges. Coding accounts for 14 and stays in classic territory: returning the K smallest values across sorted arrays, or passing functions around and reasoning about the data structures underneath them. What marks the loop out is how much of it is an infrastructure conversation rather than a puzzle. The 5 system design questions are marketplace-shaped, covering an online marketplace for buyers and sellers, a relational-to-DynamoDB migration, and cache-update conflicts between distributed services that disagree about what is current. Interviewers also ask straight out about Redis and MySQL internals and about containers against virtual machines, so revising storage engines, eviction policies and isolation levels pays off more here than another pass over tree traversals. Rounds tilt onsite, 13 of them against 11 technical screens, with 2 HR screens in the reports. 22 questions are rated medium and 5 hard. 67% of the page is readable without premium; 16 questions come with a runnable console and 11 with a full written answer.
