Amazon Advertising Software Engineer interview: streaming design and difficult DSA

After applying, I went through several rounds that felt tough and uneven in difficulty. One was described as architect-level, and I did not get far overall. There was no real warm-up: the early technical work already tested deeper experience rather than fundamentals.

One interview asked me to design a streaming application like a major video service and explain the architecture and system decisions. Another started with resume basics before moving into medium-to-hard DSA, including dynamic programming, matrix problems, and graph questions. I had to explain my approach before writing anything. I felt the interviewers were trying to probe thoroughly, but the technical level felt difficult rather than average.

There was also a recruiter-led setup with a supposedly traditional feel that did not really match the process: it included an online task or video component. I completed that work and later got an email saying I was successful, but it never turned into the interview path I expected. I did not receive an offer. What I remember is how early the process set a high bar and how hard it was to show judgment under that pressure.

Location: Bangalore Rural. Overall feedback: Positive. Offer status: No offer.
