My Box Software Engineer interview felt like a classic LeetCode-style process, with more emphasis on data structures than algorithms. The first technical screen lasted about two hours. The interviewer joined at the beginning and again at the end just to discuss the results. The next coding and DSA round took about an hour, with the interviewer on the call the entire time. After that, there was a separate LLD interview and a behavioral interview with the hiring manager.
The LLD round was the most distracting moment for me because the interviewer’s webcam wasn’t on. The hiring manager also threw me off badly. They misunderstood the context of a project I’d discussed and accused me of lying instead of asking for clarification. Even though the conversation was hard to follow, I felt my intent got lost as the tone shifted in a way that didn’t reflect my work.
Two weeks later, I received a short rejection email with minimal, generic feedback. It didn’t really help me understand what had happened. I left feeling that the process hadn’t been handled well, and the unclear, seemingly copied feedback made that worse. I didn’t feel the evaluation was consistent with my performance.
