A friend referred me, and I quickly got a screen scheduled with HR.
After that came a take-home assessment, no language restriction (they use Go internally). It wasn't a LeetCode-style algorithm question — instead you had to build a server, including various APIs, implementing some operations on a matrix (reverse, add, etc.). The assessment itself was simple; it was mainly testing your grasp of the whole project — test case design and so on.
I finished it, submitted it, and quickly got two rounds of video technical interviews scheduled.
HR told me the first round would be a deep dive into my assessment, with questions about it.
The second round would be System Design (designing an Insurance Claim system), also take-home style — you submit your design the day before the second interview.
The first round was led by two developers, one Staff and one Principal. They didn't mention the earlier code assessment at all — instead they asked all kinds of wide-ranging technical questions about my past experience. I hadn't really prepared for that kind of thing, so my answers weren't great.
While I was still actively preparing for the second interview, I got a rejection email. It said that based on the previous round, they'd decided not to move forward.
I was a little stunned at that point, but at least I didn't have to waste more time on it.
Overall the experience was average, especially since HR had given me the wrong information about what to prepare for.
That said, I can't really blame anyone else — I just wasn't good enough.
