MathWorks New Grad Software Engineer Interview Experience — Testing Questions and a Quick Rejection

I completed HireVue and an online assessment for MathWorks’ graduate EDG role focused on software testing, then received a rejection about a day later.

The recorded interview asked why the role interested me and how it fitted my goals. Another prompt asked for a project involving code quality or testing. Employment questions covered US work authorization, future sponsorship, and possible OPT timing; I did not report my answers to those questions.

The assessment included repeated XOR updates on an array, where the large operation count made a straightforward simulation unsuitable. Another task concerned identifying intermediate nodes that could lie on shortest paths. I included practice references in my notes, while distinguishing related exercises from the actual assessment problems.
