I started with a CodeSignal assessment that was supposed to be a straightforward skills check, but the timing threw me off. The whole thing moved way too fast. There wasn’t enough time to slow down, understand the problem properly, and implement a solid solution.
The question itself wasn’t described as wildly complicated, but the time limit made it hard to demonstrate capability instead of simply reacting. I found myself running out the clock more than solving carefully, which made the assessment feel unreliable as a measure of ability.
After that, the process didn’t move in a direction I could build confidence around. The difficulty came mostly from the constraints rather than the technical content. I left feeling that the format didn’t reflect my ability accurately. Looking back, I still think I could have performed better if the evaluation had allowed time for real thinking instead of emphasizing speed.
