Oura Software Engineer interview: TypeScript assessment and take-home deep dive

The most stressful part of my process was the coding work, which started right away with an online assessment. I received an email for a TypeScript assessment, but I hadn't been told it would specifically use TypeScript before committing, so I was somewhat underprepared for the language details. The grading felt strict about expertise, which made the experience feel high stakes.

The process then moved into more technical rounds involving whiteboarding and coding challenges. In some sessions, I implemented algorithms using tools I chose myself. I remember one coding challenge being judged on both correctness and how I reasoned through the implementation. Later, I completed a take-home assignment followed by a technical deep dive about my submission.

The atmosphere was direct, with questions tied to real responsibilities, but the difficulty stayed high throughout. I didn't end up with an offer. The hardest part wasn't only the time spent coding. It was adapting quickly to what the evaluation expected while being assessed so closely on technical depth.

Location: United States. Overall feedback: Positive. Offer status: No offer.
