A Broad Second Round Covering Probability, Stats, ML, and LeetCode

Recruitment process: five rounds of interviews in total. This is the second round. Behavioral Self-introduction How I taught myself finance knowledge Technical Probability Question 1: The classic three-roll dice expectation problem. You can roll a die up to three times, and after each roll you can choose to stop. Your final payoff is the value of the last roll. Compute the expected value of the g…

Online Assessment Is All Behavioral Scenarios and a Recorded Presentation

The questions weren't hard. I applied for the analyst position — even though it lists requirements like SQL, it doesn't really seem like a technical role, so it's basically all testing behavior. As soon as you apply you get an OA. It also seems like this one can be a remote internship, which is a nice touch. The general question types were: given an article, then multiple choice questions on it;…

Diff-in-Diff, Switchback Design, and a Causal Inference Deep Dive

Sharing an interview. I'm guessing I failed. Uber Staff Scientist. Coding + experimentation The first part was data manipulation. I was given a pandas DataFrame and had to convert a column's type from string to int. There was a missing value that needed to be imputed using a simple average. After those two steps, I had to compute a diff-in-diff. The experimentation part was pretty relaxed. He ask…

Four Rounds Including a Bar Raiser Case and a Project Presentation

Four rounds. Round 1 — Problem Solving (30 min): We partnered with a local grocery store to add a smart cart. Users could use the smart cart to find this store's own products and prices, and at the same time see products and prices from other stores on the Instacart app through the same cart. They asked whether this is a good idea, what the hypothesis would be, which metrics to look at, and how t…

Same Questions Recycled Between Rounds

Overall, the experience was pretty good. The HR person and the few interviewers I dealt with were all really supportive — nobody looked down on international candidates. There was no HR screen — I went straight into the first-round tech interview. The interviewer didn't even ask about my resume; we did a quick self-introduction and then went straight into the questions. The questions were: An ato…

Passed Every Round, Rejected With Zero Feedback

This was the company I spent the most time preparing for, and it was also the one that went the smoothest. The recruiter kept telling me things looked fine, and in the end I solved every single technical question — and they still rejected me. Feels like a complete waste of time. I went through the entire process, and when the rejection came they didn't give even a bit of high-level feedback. Zero…

OA Full Marks, Then Rejected After the Virtual Onsite Coding Rounds

OA was a geography question. I solved all 4 questions and got a perfect score. VO BQ — not like a normal BQ, more like a conversation. The interviewer dove deep into how I'd improve my projects. I don't know why, but after about 20 minutes he seemed to lose interest. He asked if I had any questions for him. After I asked, he went back to asking me about projects where I used a lot of different ap…

Interviewer No-Show, Then Ticketmaster System Design

This was from before the redesign — I heard they've added AI Coding now? First, kudos to the recruiter — she replied promptly every time. For one of the rounds, the interviewer was a no-show. I waited 10 minutes, then called the recruiter and she picked up right away. A bit later she told me the interviewer had something come up unexpectedly, that she'd already complained to that interviewer's ma…

Rejected Over a Bridge-Crossing Brainteaser

I felt pretty good about the first round, but I still got rejected. Thinking back on it, I think it's because I didn't give the optimal solution to a brainteaser. Investment companies like this one seem to care a lot about that. So I'm posting this for anyone who interviews here after me. The first round was with a department head. The interview was made up of a lot of small questions — a few sho…

System Design Round Ended Early, Rejected in 9 Minutes

A bit of background: I graduated in 2021 and did four years of C++ SDK dev, mixed in with about two years of building a Python test framework. My company started requiring three days a week back onsite, and the commute was wearing me out, so I started looking for something closer to home. Robinhood's infra work wasn't really a match for my background, but they gave me an interview anyway, and in…

Two-Month Wait, Then Advanced to Technical the Same Night

I applied in mid-September. I got an HR outreach in late November, and this week (early December) I had my interview — the first round was with the hiring manager. Introduce a recent project Technical details of the project Have you ever contributed to any production code? Have you…

What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Share your own

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
