Data Scientist Analytics & Experimentation Interview Questions

Meta alone accounts for 258 of the 912 analytics and experimentation questions Data Scientists reported here, ahead of Capital One at 76, DoorDash at 71, Uber at 45 and TikTok at 43. Two shapes dominate. The first is metric forensics: monthly active riders fall while wait time climbs, revenue drops overnight, duplicate and stolen posts start spreading on a content platform, and you are expected to segment by market, platform and cohort, separate a logging change from a real behavioural change, and say what evidence would confirm or kill each hypothesis. The second is experiment design and its edge cases: picking a primary metric and the guardrails around it, sample size and power, interference between treated and control users, novelty and primacy effects, peeking, multiple comparisons, and what you can still salvage when a homepage test shipped with no control group at all. A minority sit closer to the business, such as judging whether a credit card portfolio partnership is profitable, or trading customer satisfaction against fraud prevention. Interviewers push harder here than in most categories: 341 questions are rated hard against 449 medium. 831 carry a written solution, 499 came from technical screens and 356 from onsite rounds.
