Software Engineer Coding & Algorithms Interview Questions

This is the Software Engineer coding bar as candidates reported it: 3,276 questions, led by Meta with 218, Amazon with 190, Google with 188 and Uber with 114, with 71 from Anthropic and 67 from OpenAI. The standard machinery is all here, graphs and grids, dynamic programming, intervals, heaps, two pointers and string edits, but notice how often the prompt is a small product problem in disguise. Reported examples include maximising deliveries along a line while holding total distance down, scheduling jobs with a cooldown between identical ones, finding the fewest character changes that make every k-length block a palindrome, and a shortest path through a grid where you may convert exactly one blocked cell. Others are multi-part builds: a calendar service handling deletion, pagination and overlap queries, or an array merge that grows into a round-robin scheduler and then a trading simulator. That is why 330 of these arrived as take-home projects, a share you will not find on a system design page. 1538 came from technical screens against 825 onsite, so most of this is the round that decides whether you advance. 2141 are rated medium and 370 hard, and 2392 open in a console where you can run and test your code before comparing it against the solution.
