Four CodeSignal Tasks and No Reply After Nearly Two Weeks

It has been almost two weeks since I finished, and I have not heard anything, so I probably failed... This was the first interview of my job search, and I never expected to fall at the OA. Looking back, I did not take it seriously enough, did not prepare enough, and was not familiar with this OA format. There are many interview reports on the forum, so I am writing about a few things I had not se…

Two Cases and a Digital Product Case

After scheduling the interview, I had a phone call with HR. I was explicitly told that there would not be three behavioral questions. The product interview now uses only a digital product, and it includes questions related to AI. Case 1: a 90-day short-term loan. Case 2: wheat. They were exactly the same as the interview reports on the forum. Work through all of them and you will be fine! Product…

New OA With Four Questions, One I Only Half-Solved

One hour and ten minutes, four questions in total. Question 1 Very simple — take a string and reorder it by first character, last character, second character, second-to-last character, and so on. Input: abcde Output: aebdc Question 2 Also simple — a string made up only of W, D, L characters. Sort the whole thing so the output repeats in W, D, L order. Input: WWWLLDDLD Output: WDLWDLWDL Input: WLD…

Same OA, Now Cruise-Themed Instead of Superheroes

I noticed there isn't much here about this OA, and I just finished mine, so I wanted to share. The two Canada-version posts from 2024 are completely outdated now — what's being tested currently is very similar to another report I found. Basically the approach for every question is the same, except it's no longer about superheroes, it's about cruises now. There are 12 questions total, but the firs…

Capital One Software Engineer interview: CodeSignal OA under time pressure

My process was dominated by a CodeSignal OA where time pressure mattered a great deal. I completed the assessment and earned full points on three of the four questions, which was a relief, but the clock was already working against me by the time I reached the last one. The OA had four DSA questions in 70 minutes. I fully solved questions 1, 2, and 4 and got top marks on each. When I reached quest…

Capital One Product Manager interview: four Power Day interviews and a DMV case

My final stage was Power Day: four back-to-back video interviews. Two were consulting-style cases. The other two focused on product work, including a product I'd led and a product-sense case study. The product prompt involved designing an experience related to the DMV. I had to connect the user journey, decisions and trade-offs into a clear plan. The day felt like an assessment of how I framed pr…

Capital One Product Manager interview: withdrew after recruiter mismatch

I only reached the early stage because the recruiter call put me off. It felt disconnected from product-manager work and the roles being hired for. I came away thinking the person did not understand what Product teams did, and they discouraged me from taking part in a rigorous full-day process if I did not feel like a strong fit. There was a brief attempt to pull me back into the process, but I h…

Product Manager interview at Capital One

I started with a phone screen, then a Virtual Job Tryout, a mini case around a Capital One product, and finally Power Day. Recruiter communication and the materials made the sequence somewhat predictable, but there were enough checkpoints that mistakes still felt costly. Power Day meant four back-to-back one-hour interviews. I worked through a case tied to a product I had worked on, product round…

Capital One Data Analyst interview: SQL and final business case

After a recruiter screen, I took an online technical test and then went through rounds that felt much more business heavy than advertised. The test had one basic SQL question and a larger set of data-manipulation multiple-choice items. The first interview mixed business-case work with a very quick SQL component, and a later technical round had easy LeetCode-style questions. The mismatch showed up…

Capital One Product Manager interview: math and product decisions

After an initial one-on-one, I spent a full day in back-to-back meetings, each about an hour long. The split surprised me: two rounds were essentially math problems, while the others assessed how I made product decisions and thought about product work. One interviewer put it this way: if someone is so strong at math that becoming a developer or moving toward technical architecture makes more sens…

Capital One Software Engineer interview: four one-hour interviews in one day

I interviewed in a standard four-interviews-in-one-day format. After earlier rounds, I had four one-hour sessions that were evaluated together: two technical interviews, one behavioral interview, and one case interview. The technical interviews used LeetCode-style problem solving. The behavioral session focused on my experience and how I described my work. The case interview was about walking thr…

Capital One Business Analyst interview: graph and percentage assessment

My process ended at the online assessment. My background leaned toward analytics, but the assessment was much more about business and math than analytics problems. The preparation material I found did not seem to match the format I received. There was a small set of questions on graphs, data interpretation, percentage calculations, and reasoning beyond plugging in numbers. I worked through them,…

Capital One Data Analyst interview: Power Day cases after a data challenge

After an HR call, I had a technical screen that combined technical work with business problem solving. There was a coding test focused on SQL and Excel data management, then a data challenge where I analyzed the material and presented what I found. The process took about two months from beginning to end, longer than I expected because I kept waiting for the next step. Power Day had four rounds an…

Capital One Product Manager interview: respectful conversations about team culture

This was one of the smoother interview experiences I had. The people I spoke with felt genuinely strong, and I liked how they talked about the role and the team I would be working with. The conversations gave me a real sense of the company culture and did not feel rushed past the context. The tone stayed positive, and I left understanding what the job involved. I did not get an offer, but I would…

Capital One Business Analyst interview: clarifying a game-launch case question

The hardest part for me was a case interview where I initially struggled to understand the question. The interviewer guided me through calculating the answer across a series of steps, but I could not fully follow what they were asking. I kept clarifying and asking questions. The case was about launching a new game with free and paid visibility in the market. Even with the guidance, it was tense b…

Capital One Product Manager Interview Experience: Power Day cases on A/B testing and profit optimization

After a recruiter screening call, the process quickly moved into a mini case on a Capital One product. I received charts, interpreted the data from an A/B-testing perspective, and then zoomed out to a UX review where I made recommendations from what I saw. About a day later, I had Power Day, a long series of interviews that mixed product skills, product discovery, and heavier case work. One part…

Capital One Business Analyst interview with a mini case and Power Day

After an initial recruiter call, the process moved quickly to a mini case and then straight into a Power Day. It felt standard for a Business Analyst track: an HR conversation about what to expect, followed by quantitative case-style questions in the mini case. The Power Day was the heavier part, with several back-to-back interviews. During Power Day, I had case interviews and a product-focused r…

Rejected After Stumbling on the Venmo Case Math

Since a lot of people on the forum helped me out a lot, I'm still posting this report even though I ended up getting rejected, which is a shame. Behavior: The usual three — success, helping others, and failure. Remember to prepare detailed examples, there will be follow-ups. DC: I made slides, mostly focused on visualization, since at my current job I present to an MD every day so this felt famil…

CodeSignal OA with a Tetris-Style Block-Placement Problem

A friend referred me to Capital One (C1). After the recruiter phone screen, they sent a CodeSignal Online Assessment, which had to be completed within 7-10 days — 4 questions, 70 minutes total. I got the link last Friday and finished it this Tuesday. I had grinded LeetCode and the C1-tagged questions from the last three months on 1point3acres, but only the first question actually overlapped. My f…

What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Share your own

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
