Manager Round Ran Long After a Slow OA

This company is really annoying about it — you have to grind through an obnoxiously long OA before they'll even schedule the hiring manager interview. After I finished the OA, I actually had to remind the recruiter myself before they moved things forward. Let me talk about the manager interview. It was basically pure conversation. The manager seemed like a nice guy. He mostly asked what I'm curre…

A Full OA Question Bank (Oct 2025–Jan 2026)

Given a target and an array, count how many elements are greater than the target and how many are less than it. If there are more greater elements, return greater; if there are more smaller elements, return smaller; if they're equal, return tie. Given an initial state, a season, and a day, return the moon state for that specific date. The moon's cycle is 8 days with 8 possible states, and the ini…

A Tetris-Style Grid Placement OA Question

There's an n x m grid of squares, and I need to draw a pattern on it. The pattern is made up of several fixed block shapes, kind of like Tetris. The problem gave 5 figure types: A, B, C, D, E. For A: in a 2x2 square, it only occupies the top-left, top-right, and bottom-left cells. So A is: That is, a U-shape / concave shape with the top-middle cell empty. This should go by the example matrix — fo…

HR Call Through a Full Power Day

Round 1: HR Call Asked about "why this company," and otherwise it was just some basic logistics confirmation. Round 2: Data Challenge This was done on CodeSignal — about 4 questions total, using numpy, pandas, sklearn, etc. It was split into a few parts: data cleaning, feature selection, and model building. Finishing the data-processing part within the time limit (90 min) was fairly difficult; yo…

A Groupon Break-Even Case, Fast-Tracked to the Next Round

I just interviewed for the C1 SBA minicase yesterday, and it was the exact same Groupon case that's been floating around! If you're running a restaurant, you're considering whether to partner with a platform like Groupon. 1) What factors would you consider? 2) Given data: number of tables served per day: 20; avg spend/day: $30; cost: $0.40 per dollar spent; FC: $100/day — what is the daily profit…

A Streaming Renewal Case I Didn't Pass

I interviewed for a mini case at Capital One (C1) a while back and didn't pass. Today I want to share the questions and do a bit of a retro. The interviewer was a guy who used to work in consulting (I get the feeling C1 has a real preference for consulting backgrounds). He started with a quick self-intro, then had me introduce myself. He mentioned the official time allotted for this case is one h…

Four Rounds Including a Virtual Credit Card Case Study

There aren't many MLE interview reports for Capital One on the forum, so I'm writing up my own experience to give everyone a reference point. I'll try to be as specific as possible, hoping it helps other people interviewing for MLE later. There were 4 interviews total, each scheduled for 1 hour, as follows: Set A technical. The interviewer was pretty easygoing, and overall it went smoothly and pl…

A Case Round That Was All Numbers, No Strategy

Capital One Senior Business Analyst When I was prepping for this interview and came looking for interview reports, all I could find were ones for data analyst roles, so I told myself that once I finished mine, I'd write one up to help other people interviewing for business analyst positions. Let me introduce my background first (though probably nobody's interested) — I have a Business Analytics m…

Three Case Rounds, a Scheduling Mishap, and a Rejection

Round 1 had two interviewers — one leading, one silent the whole time. The BQ was a standard "help others" question. They followed up with a lot of detail, including what materials or records existed for the help I gave, and what I had to sacrifice or give up something important to help someone. A handful of other detail questions too. Then came the first case. It started by bringing up the reven…

A 70-Minute, 15-Question OA With Excel, SQL, and Stats

Capital One Senior DA Submitted my application on the 9th and got the OA the next morning on the 10th. Then my procrastination kicked in at full strength and I put it off all the way until today, emmmmm. Overall the difficulty wasn't too high, just like people here have said. It's split into three parts, 15 questions, 70 minutes. You get your score right when you finish, and it logs how long you…

What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Share your own

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
