The process began with recruiter coordination and became a set of deep technical conversations that I found genuinely hard. One version included several coding interviews and a system design discussion. The people were pleasant and my impression of the culture was positive, but I was at the end of a hiring cycle, and that affected the result.
In a different technical loop, the difficulty was not the main problem. I expected a rigorous two-way principal-level conversation, but the interviewer seemed distracted and did not appear to follow my answers. Questions came back as though my earlier responses had not landed, and the follow-ups repeatedly returned to the same points. Given the seniority implied by that interview type, it was hard to tell whether my thinking was being judged fairly.
I did not receive an offer. My takeaway was mixed: the company could seem serious and well-intentioned, yet the process stopped feeling like a clean merit-based assessment when the evaluation was inattentive or hiring-cycle timing mattered more than performance.
