ML Infra Loop With Misleading Prep, No Offer

I interviewed for Snap SDE ML infra in September. Posting my rejection story as a reference for whoever comes after. Phone screen: an unusual problem, data stream processing. Every incoming data point can be stored into a stored cluster (you decide from the data itself whether it belongs to an existing cluster or is the first data point of a new cluster). You also have to implement a function tha…

Mercor Software Engineer interview with resume-tailored AI questions

I went through an interview flow that was entirely AI-based, and I found it surprisingly efficient. The AI generated questions tailored to my resume and the job description, and the experience felt almost human, more like a real conversation than a cold checklist. The questions covered system design prompts and coding and code-practice topics, and I usually had enough time to think through my ans…

Mercor Software Engineer interview with a three-section HackerRank assessment

After I applied, the first step was an online HackerRank-style assessment with three sections. It covered data and algorithms, data pipelines, and SQL-style questions, so I had to move between very different problem types one after another. A short time later, I had a 30-minute conversation with the hiring manager. That discussion felt mostly behavioral, with some technical back-and-forth mixed i…

Mercor Software Engineer interview: five-minute interview with BFS and two-pointer questions

Scheduling went badly from the start. The first interview was canceled after I had already been set up for it, and the second lasted only about five minutes. During that short session, I received a Google Doc with three data structure and algorithm questions, including BFS and a two pointer approach. I needed a couple of minutes to get oriented, but the interviewer canceled before I could write a…

BairesDev Software Engineer interview: approachable interviewers and an easy pace

My experience felt smooth from the start. The interviewers were approachable and friendly, and the conversations had an easy flow. It felt like they were genuinely trying to understand my responses instead of rushing me through scripted checkpoints. I had room to express myself, and the tone made it feel less like an interrogation and more like a real discussion. The questions matched the job I w…

AMD Software Engineer interview: WhatsApp-style design and DP questions

The hardest part of my loop was the systems-level design work. I was asked to cover both high-level and low-level design, then I got dynamic-programming prompts as part of the technical evaluation. One design prompt was essentially to build a messaging app like WhatsApp from scratch, and I had to explain what tech stack I'd use if I were developing it today. For the DP questions, I solved one med…

AMD Software Engineer interview: low-level C/C++ and hardware integration

My process began with an initial recruiter and hiring-manager screening, followed by a fairly rigorous technical loop. The format was described as a sequence of two to four rounds. The interviews focused on low-level systems knowledge, C/C++ coding, and how hardware and software need to work together. The questions weren't abstract brainstorming. They kept coming back to how I'd reason about syst…

BairesDev Software Engineer screening in English

After the recruiter reached out, my first conversation was a screening focused on getting a clear picture of my background. The entire conversation was in English and felt more like a structured discussion than a grilling. We covered my listening and speaking, professional experience, key achievements, technical challenges I'd faced, my current job, and my expectations. The conversation was fairl…

AMD Software Engineer interview with NPU and hardware accelerator focus

I started with a recruiter call about my location and sponsorship needs, followed by an explanation of the interview process. Next came a behavioral interview with the hiring manager, who followed up on almost everything I said. Since the role was with an NPU-related group, I spent a lot of time connecting my background to AI and hardware accelerators. The technical part included another coding-f…

Software Engineer at AMD: computer architecture and UVM questions

I went through a technical-focused interview that leaned heavily into computer architecture and verification. I was asked about UART, SPI, and I2C, including how those topics connect to the bigger picture. We also covered object-oriented programming and verification languages and concepts such as UVM. The discussion then moved to bus protocols including APB, AHB, and AXI, followed by coverage, as…

AMD Software Engineer interview with two medium DSA questions

My first round was mostly DSA, with two medium LeetCode-style questions focused on strings and arrays. The interviewer seemed especially interested in how carefully I handled edge cases, rather than whether I could get a happy-path solution working. The pace was steady and the conversation felt supportive. When I got stuck, the interviewer nudged me back in the right direction. Overall, it went w…

Micro1 Software Engineer Zara AI interview with rapid technical questions

My first interaction with Micro1 felt like a pure Zara AI interview, and it ramped up quickly. I faced technical questions whose difficulty increased fast. The pace was so tight that I barely had time to pause and think before the bot moved on. If I didn't respond in time, it went straight to the next question. What caught me off guard was having to go through every section. When a topic didn't c…

AMD Software Engineer interview with four technical and scenario rounds

The process started with a hiring-manager-style conversation about what I’d been working on day to day, and we went deep into my past experience. After that, I moved into a panel format, and the loop became more technical and focused on problem solving. I completed four rounds in total. The panels seemed to have a couple of interviewers each, and the questions mixed technical problems with scenar…

Eurofins scientific Software Engineer four interviews and unanswered follow-ups

The recruitment process began with urgency, and I committed a lot of time because the timeline was presented as critical. I completed four interviews. Nothing was answered. I eventually contacted an enginee…

Ernst & Young U.S. LLP Consultant first-interview nerves and blanking

My first interview was easy on paper, but I let nerves get the better of me. I panicked and blanked out even though the interviewer asked basic, straightforward questions. I could not answer them properly in the moment. The difficulty did not seem high, but my performance did not show what I knew. I left with the uncomfortable feeling that nerves, not a lack of understanding, had caused the probl…

Ernst & Young Consultant first interview nerves despite easy questions

In my first interview, panic took over. The questions were easy, but I blanked in the moment and could not respond the way I knew I could. The difficulty was not the problem. What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Share your own

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
