A Rolling-Window Officer Status Lookup System Design Question

I applied for this position online on a whim and didn't expect to actually land an interview. The company works in public safety. The question was to design a system for looking up an officer's status record near a given point in time. The system continuously receives data from police officers' devices. For each officer, while they're active, their device generates a record every 5 seconds. Each…

An Unconventional Python Tee Iterator Question

Not sure if I just had bad luck, or if the L5 question bank is just different, but I got hit with a really unconventional question. No small talk, no self-introductions, straight into the coding problem. The task was to implement Python's tee iterator — you're given an iterator and need to return n independent iterators from it. I had to define my own functions and classes for it, so it had a bit…

Four-Round Onsite With an AI-Assisted Coding Round

First I got a reach-out from a recruiter, and we set up a quick call to go over the basics and the interview process. Then they scheduled the first technical round. After that round, the process got handed off to another recruiter, who also set up a quick call to go over some basic info, and at the same time scheduled the onsite. The first round was a Code Craft round, 1 hour. The second round wa…

25 Minutes to Hand-Code a Concurrent Task Executor

I applied pretty randomly online, and HR reached out to schedule an interview for yesterday afternoon. I went in with a "just watching the show" mindset, and honestly the whole experience was terrible — basically a setup for failure. If I'd actually been seriously job hunting, this would have driven me insane. First, it was a one-hour technical phone screen, and half an hour of that went into goi…

Boomerang Loop With a Surprise ML Platform System Design

HR reached out about a boomerang interview, two rounds. Round 1: 20 minutes of behavioral questions, 30 minutes of coding. The questions weren't hard, but there were two of them. The first one gave me a graph and asked me to print the shortest path — not hard, but the messed up part was there was no problem description, I had to guess it myself, and there was also some distracting code mixed in t…

Two Passed Screens, Filled Openings, and a Virtual Onsite

At Bloomberg, you can move forward with at most two teams at the same time, and each team's phone screen is independent. Basically, one job posting corresponds to one opening, and those openings fill pretty quickly. I passed both phone screens, but both openings had been filled. The recruiter helped forward my resume to a sister team of one of those teams that was hiring, so I didn't need another…

A 60-Minute Payment State-Machine OA

Stripe new grad SWE OA. I did it about a week ago, and my memory is a little hazy. It was basically a state machine + OOP. Sharing this to save everyone some time. 60 minutes, progressing through levels. Nothing difficult algorithmically, but there really was a lot of code to write. A payment system, using command-line-style instructions. One detail worth mentioning: every command has the same nu…

Payment Holds, Charges, and Batch Processing

The question was to design a payment processor. The basic flow was that a merchant first sends a hold request, which we forward to the upstream payment network, then receive an approval or rejection. After a successful hold, there is a separate charge request later. Charges are then grouped by payment network into batch files and sent on a schedule. I'd prepared for payment-system questions befor…

Accenture España Software Engineer interview experience: a mismatched final assessment

The process started normally. The technical interview covered core JavaScript and React, including hooks, reconciliation, HOCs, performance patterns, and some architecture discussion. Then I had a managerial-style round about past projects and how I would fit on a team. After clearing both interviews, I received an online assessment covering React, React Native, and Angular. The role was clearly…

Airwallex Software Engineer Interview Experience: HR discussed a second role before rejecting both

My process with Airwallex was straightforward until the HR call. The HR interviewer asked about my background and said that, based on what I shared, another role might suit the team better. We discussed that opportunity and went back and forth enough that it felt as though things were moving. Then it ended quickly. I received a rejection email saying I was not selected for either role we had disc…

Accion Labs Software Engineer interview experience: an unattended rescheduled meeting

Repeated communication failures derailed this interview, beginning with the scheduling. They postponed it only hours before the agreed time, and I agreed to meet the next day. When I joined the Microsoft Teams call, I waited to be admitted. Someone let me in after the scheduled time, then immediately left without saying a word. I sat alone for the entire 30 minutes the interview was supposed to l…

Airwallex Pty Software Engineer interview experience: unclear role fit and rejection

The recruiter stage is what I remember most, and it set a poor tone. After the HR conversation, there was back-and-forth about the roles and where my background might fit, but I never got a clear picture of what I was actually being considered for. Instead of entering a full interview loop, I received a rejection email saying I was not selected for either role we had discussed. Another experience…

Arch Global Services Philippines Software Engineer Interview Experience: React assessment rejected seconds after submission

The sequence felt professional and reasonable until the end. I first had a technical interview on JavaScript and React topics including hooks, reconciliation, HOCs, and performance patterns. We also discussed architecture and past project experience. A managerial round followed, focused on my projects, experience, and team fit. What surprised me was receiving an online assessment after I had clea…

Anduril Industries Software Engineer interview experience: early recruiter screening

The process began with a quick recruiter screen that was mostly about logistics and conversation. We covered my background, past work, and interest in the role. Sometimes a small technical question came up. In one screen it was basic cantilever-beam knowledge; in another, there was no technical question at all. The recruiter also asked about fit and expectations, including team matching and motiv…

& General Intuition Software Engineer Interview Experience: an uneven hiring-manager conversation

The process felt unevenly organized from the start. Communication and the collaboration vibe varied depending on the round. The part that stayed with me was a hiring-manager-style conversation that became a judgment of my career choices, rather than staying focused on fit or leadership. That did not sit well with me. I do not remember every technical detail, but the overall experience was noticea…

Infosys Finacle Software Engineer interview with escalating DP and graph questions

My interview started with four questions that ranged from easy to complex. Even the supposedly easy first question involved greedy thinking. The second moved into dynamic programming. The third combined DP with graph-related elements. The fourth was described as extremely hard, which set the tone for the interview. I could not complete everything, and the sequence made me feel they wanted to see…

BD Software Engineer interview with easy assessment and in-person logistics

I had a simple process that still felt somewhat inefficient. It began with a fairly easy online assessment, mostly made up of research-and-knowledge questions, followed by an in-person interview. The stages were clear, and it did not feel like a heavy technical gauntlet. In a similar part of the process, I had two interviews: a phone screen followed by an in-person meeting with different people,…

ADCI - Karnataka Software Engineer Interview Experience: hard DSA after the online assessment

The process started normally: I applied, a recruiter reached out for a brief HR-style introduction, and then I took a one-hour online assessment. The later rounds included two DSA coding interviews, one system-design interview, one behavioral or leadership-style question they called BQ, and several team-matching rounds. The DSA portion was much harder than I expected. The problems felt close to L…

Accenture Technology Software Engineer interview with unclear final status

After I applied, the process moved quickly through an online coding assessment, a technical interview, and an HR discussion. The technical work covered core Java, Spring Boot, SQL, JavaScript, React, Git, and SDLC. We spent a lot of time discussing the projects on my resume, alongside scenario and HR questions. It felt moderately difficult and professionally run. What stayed with me was the lack…

What are interview experiences?

An interview experience is a candidate's own account of a hiring loop — not a question bank entry. It tells you the shape of the process: how many rounds there were, what each round actually tested, how long the gaps between them ran, and what the recruiter said at the end. That context is the part a question list cannot give you.

How to read them

Weight recent write-ups more heavily — interview loops change, often within a year. Read several for the same company and role rather than one: a single account tells you what one interviewer asked, while five tell you what the bar is. Note the outcome badge too, since a rejection write-up usually explains the gap far more precisely than an offer one.

Share your own

Every published experience earns 50 XP, and each of the first 3 likes it receives in a day earns you 10 XP more. Likes must come from established accounts; like-for-like swaps and likes from your own second account are not paid. Write it while the details are fresh — the round order, the exact prompts, and how much time you were given are what the next reader needs.
